HIP HOP

Hip hop dance is a style of street dance that originated in New York City in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It's characterized by its rhythmic movements that follow the beat of hip hop music, and its free-form, improvisational nature.Street dance developed in open spaces like streets, parks, and dance parties, and was a way for young people to express themselves.

It encompasses a variety of techniques, including breaking (breakdancing), popping, locking, krumping, and freestyle movements.

Some defining characteristics of hip hop dance include:

    •    Freestyle/Improvisation: Dancers often create movements spontaneously, making it a highly personal and creative style.

    •    Rhythm and Groove: Movements are closely tied to the beats and rhythms of hip hop music.

    •    Battles: Dancers often engage in competitions or “battles” to display their skills and outshine their opponents.

Hip hop dance continues to evolve, blending traditional street dance elements with modern and commercial influences, making it one of the most popular and versatile dance forms globally.
